Lessons on Light

"Did you ever wonder who you are
do your ever wonder as you stare into the stars
Where you began
And how you got this far
from home?"
"There’s a dream taking wings
There’s a voice that wants to sing
Even in the deepest darkest night
The Torch is raised to the sky
There are hands that hold it high
You were born to keep it burning bright
You were made to fly you were meant to shine
Child of light"

"As the sun gives life and light to the earth, a spiritual light gives nourishment to our spirits."

"To observe the physical properties of light can be exciting, but discovering the properties of spiritual light and truth is even more awe inspiring and essential. We are promised, 'He that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day.'"

"Darkness cannot conquer light unless the light is diminished or departs"

"Once when President Brigham Young was asked why we are sometimes left alone and often sad, his response was that man has to learn to 'act as an independent being … to see what he will do … and try his independency—to be righteous in the dark.' That becomes easier to do when we see the 'gospel glow … radiating from … illuminated individuals.'"

Thank you for being a Friend!

Thank you for being a friend

Traveled down the road and back again

Your heart is true your a pal and a confidant.

And if you through a party

Invited everyone you ever knew

You would see the biggest gift would be from me

And the card attached would say thank you for being a friend.

Yes, I know it's the Golden Girls Theme Song, and it's corny, but it's kind of how I feel today! So you may or may not have noticed that I've been a little down for the past month or so. Well, yesterday I was sick of being sad and moved right on in to the angry phase! Everything seemed to make me bitter and angry!

Well I was talking to a good friend last night and she said two things that hit me! The first, "Stop being ungrateful for your blessings" and the three magic words that impacted me the most, "You're allowing it!"

She was right! I am so blessed! And I am especially blessed to be surrounded by true and loving friends! Thanks guys!

President Spencer W. Kimball explained: "God does notice us, and he watches over us. But it is usually through another person that he meets our needs" ("Small Acts of Service," Ensign, Dec. 1974, p. 5).

My closest friends are always there for me! They support me and love me, even when I'm difficult to love! Lol! You guys know who you are and I love you! Each of you teach me and inspire me to be better! You are awesome examples to me! What a blessing from Heavenly Father!

Each life that touches ours for good
Reflects thine own great mercy, Lord;
Thou sendest blessings from above
Thru words and deeds of those who love.

What greater gift dost thou bestow,
What greater goodness can we know
Than Christlike friends, whose gentle ways
Strengthen our faith, enrich our days.

For worthy friends whose lives proclaim
Devotion to the Savior's name,
Who bless our days with peace and love,
We praise thy goodness, Lord, above.

Monday Nights At The Kennedy's

Since the year pretty much started I've been taking an Arabic Class at the Beverly Hills Language Institute every Monday night. The class gets out about 9:00 and I don't wantto make the long drive home, so I crash with my friends Austin and Natalie Kennedy!

I just wanted to take a second to publicly thank them for all they do for me! I LOVE THEM!!! They are true friends and awesome people! And tons of fun!!!

L. Tom Perry, “Good Friends,” New Era, Feb 1993, 4

If you find yourself racing through life, slow down long enough to take along some good friends.

The friends we choose to associate with are main contributing factors in the formation of our character. We form social habits by association with our friends. These habits can be useful when directed towards the formation of a wholesome personality.

Thanks guys for being good examples to me!

“One is Silver and the other Gold”

"Make new friends, but keep the old...One is Silver and the other Gold!"

The past two days I've gotten to spend time with some of the "Gold" in my life and celebrate their birthdays.

Friday Night I went to Olive Garden with Frank and Sabrina for Sabrini's Birthday! I can't believe she's married and 6 months pregnant. Her little baby belly is sooo cute! And it was so nice to spend time with her and Frank!

Last night Andrea and I went to P.F. Changs with Gabe for his birthday! Again he's married and has a baby! I'm noticing a pattern here…LOL! I wish that Holly and Reagan could have come too. I guess I'm really grateful and lucky that my old friends seem to marry awesome people who fit right in.

I have so many good memories with both Gabriel and Sabrina! Fun and fights, laughing and crying, serious talks and silly talks- isn't that what friendship is all about!? And even though I don't get to see them every day, there are little things throughout my daily routines that bring to remembrance how much I love them—not just them, but all of the "Gold" in my life!

"The making of friends, who are real friends, is the best token we have of a man's success in life."
- Edward Everett Hale

I think I am truly a rich man to already have so much "Gold" I believe the saying….

"Friends are God's way of taking care of us."
